Br. Martin Fallin, a Christian Brother for sixty-one years, died at Mont La Salle, Napa, California, on July 8, 2010, at the age of 78. He was born in Springfield, Missouri, on September 8, 1931. After attending the Junior Novitiate, he entered the Novitiate in June of 1949 and received the habit in August of that year. He continued his Scholasticate training at Saint Mary’s College, where he received his BA degree in 1954. In 1968, he earned an MA in Education from Immaculate Heart College, Los Angeles.
For 55 years, Br. Martin served as a teacher and administrator in Christian Brothers schools throughout California, including Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco, Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, La Salle High School in Pasadena, Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, Justin-Siena High School in Napa, and Saint Mary’s College in Moraga. He was principal of four high schools: Sacred Heart High School, La Salle High School, Christian Brothers High School and Justin-Siena High School. He also served as district supervisor of schools and district vocation director. His longest assignment began in 1988 when he was assigned to Saint Mary’s College where he held both academic and administrative positions for 21 years. Brother Martin moved to the Christian Brothers retirement community in Napa in October 2009.
