Brother Robert Smith, FSC, liberal arts teacher
for half a century, has died in California

Brother Robert Smith, FSC, a member of the De La Salle Christian Brothers since 1931, has died at the age of 92 at the Christian Brothers retirement community at Mont La Salle in Napa, California. Brother Robert was a founder of the Integral Program of liberal arts studies at Saint Mary’s College of California and a longtime, beloved member of the faculty at St. John’s Collegein Annapolis, Maryland.

His funeral will be at Saint Mary’s College of California, in Moraga, on Saturday, September 16. Visitation begins at five o’clock, the funeral Mass is at six o’clock in the evening. Burial will be in the Christian Brothers cemetery at Mont La Salle, 4401 Redwood Road, Napa, at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 17.
