Mont La Salle Hosts Discernment Retreat

Seven men exploring a vocation to the De La Salle Christian Brothers participated in a Discernment Retreat held at Mont La Salle over the recent Memorial Day weekend. The purpose of the three-day gathering was to provide retreatants with an opportunity to further perceive their vocational interests in a relaxed atmosphere of prayer, information and discussion. The Mont La Salle property, with its novitiate, retirement community, District offices and Conference Center, is ideally suited for quiet reflection, one-on-one conversations, and discussions on topics related to the discernment of one’s calling in life.

The retreat was facilitated by Br. George Van Grieken, Director of Vocation Ministry for both the District of San Francisco and the United States/Toronto Region. He was assisted by several Brothers from Saint Mary’s College of California, who helped lead the retreat, as well as Brothers from the Provincialate Community who participated in activities and provided support by cooking meals and interacting during social events. All Brothers on the property prayed for the success of discernment of those on retreat. The evaluations of the experience were uniformly enthusiastic and positive.
