Brother Michael Quinn, FSC, a Brother for sixty-seven years and President at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga for eight years, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2009. He was 86 years old.
Born Thomas Leo Quinn in Oakland, California, he attended high school in Long Beach and was a lay student at Saint Mary’s College before entering the Novitiate in 1942. After robing, he graduated from Saint Mary’s in 1947. His early teaching assignments included tours at Cathedral High School in Los Angeles and the Juniorate at Mont La Salle. From 1961 to 1969, he served as President of Saint Mary’s College, leading during the college’s centennial celebration. He was also Dean of the School of Science, Chair of the graduate and undergraduate psychology departments and Auxiliary Visitor of the San Francisco District. In 1997, he retired to the Holy Family Community at Mont La Salle.
