Christian Brothers Ranch provides a 4-H style program for over 20 students from the Napa area. Students come to Mont La Salle where the animals are penned. Young students learn the practical side of over 50 animals through hands-on experience of caring for and helping to raise them.

Students between the ages of 8 and 16 work with the animals two or three days a week after school and on weekends. Each student has responsibility for three animals -lambs, goats or pigs. The newer, younger students care for the chickens and rabbits. The older and stronger boys care for the cattle, which can weigh in at 1,100-1,300 pounds.

The proceeds from the sale of two of the students' animals are deposited in an educational account for individual students. The third animal is returned to the ranch to help begin the next season for new students. As students leave the program, the money they have raised in animal sales goes into their education.
