Saint Mary’s College of California invites applications for a full time Associate Director for Faith Formation to work collaboratively with students, Christian Brothers, faculty, and staff in deepening the articulation and understanding of, as well as participation in, the Catholic and Lasallian Mission.
Founded in 1863, Saint Mary's is a residential campus nestled 20 miles east of San Francisco in the picturesque Moraga Valley. Based in the Catholic, Lasallian and Liberal Arts traditions, Saint Mary's currently enrolls more than 4,500 students from diverse backgrounds in undergraduate and graduate programs. The De La Salle Christian Brothers, the largest lay teaching order of the Roman Catholic Church, guide the spiritual and academic character of the College.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Dean for Mission and Ministry, the Associate Director for Faith Formation works collaboratively within the Mission and Ministry Center, the Associate Director for Faith Formation will provide leadership in the development of programs, resources, and support to the campus community for the spiritual and religious needs, as well as the development of the Mission and Ministry Center.
Oversee the development and strengthening of faith formation opportunities and programs for the College Community, including sacramental preparation, academic partnerships, spiritual direction, ecumenical and inter-religious dialog, and the development of a speaker series.
The College’s articulation of the Catholic Identity and Lasallian Mission in the context of a liberal arts education are expressed in the five Lasallian Core Principles: Faith in the Presence of God, Concern for the Poor and Social Justice, Quality Education, Inclusive Community, and Respect for All Persons. The Associate Director works in a collaborative environment with faculty and staff and especially students to promote a culture of faith and spirituality on the campus and respond to the religious needs of the campus community by providing leadership for the Catholic, Lasallian Mission and religious and faith formation programs.
The Associate Director works in a highly collaborative and culturally diverse environment and develops effective relationships within the Departments, School and with other areas of the College. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the mission of the College, which is informed, animated and expressed through its Catholic, Lasallian and Liberal Arts traditions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in theology, religious studies, education, or other related field, doctorate preferred and five (5) years of experience in a Lasallian educational setting; understanding of, commitment to, and articulation of the Lasallian Heritage and Mission; knowledge of the life of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, demonstrated experience and success in Lasallian Mission program creation or development.
Understanding of, commitment to, and articulation of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, theological foundation, and ecumenical and inter-religious dialog; knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching, Catholic Intellectual Tradition, and background in ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue; proven experience and success in faith formation program creation or development; commitment to participation in Lasallian Formation Programs preferred; (Buttimer, Lasallian Leadership Institute, Lasallian Social Justice Institute, or other Regional, District, Lasallian Volunteers, or local formation programs) highly desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required; demonstrated excellence in using Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.), database, email and internet usage; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, establish priorities, work in an organized manner, work independently and as a team member, work cooperatively and effectively with all members of a multi-culturally diverse campus community and actively contribute to the mission of the College.
