POSITION: Vice President of Foundation and Scholarship
General Summary: The Vice President of Scholarship and Advancement reports directly to the President and is responsible for the strategic evaluation, selection and execution of all external advancement activities of the school. The Vice President of Foundation and Scholarship has primary responsibility for Scholarship assistance, Campus Development and Foundation growth. Individuals applying for this administrative position must possess excellent communication skills, have a demonstrated, measurable history of successful professional sales or fundraising capabilities, inclusive of solicitation of major gifts/accounts, grant writing and program development. REPORTS TO THE PRESIDENT FOR THE FOLLOWING JOB DUTIES:
- Identify, qualify and develop proposals directed toward the school’s key objective of funding access to financially needy students;
- Manage the communication and relationship of scholar and benefactor, inclusive of tracking of student and benefactor assignment and thank you writing campaign;
- Identify, contact and solicit potential investors for Campus Development;
- Manage a list of prospects, guiding and supporting a process that encourages donation of major gifts to the school and Foundation;
- Coordinate cultivation activities and solicitations involving other Advancement Dept. staff and administrative staff, including board members, volunteers, professional staff and other strategic partners;
- Provide timely, written reports regarding the outcome of cultivation and solicitation activities;
- Maintain prospect files;
- Plan & orchestrate stewardship activities as appropriate;
- Other duties as assigned.
CANDIDATE MUST:
- Support the mission and philosophy of La Salle High School;
Be visible and involved in school and community organizations events;
- Serve on school committees related to Foundation, Campus Development, and Financial Aid;
Oversee the publications/marketing staff, and Director of Admissions;
- Organize, execute and evaluate Lead Benefactor Reception, Foundation Heritage Breakfast and other events as identified by the president;
- Cultivate donor relation, and expand donor prospects for financial contributions from individuals, businesses, companies, corporations, and foundations;
- Maintain benefactor correspondence for the school: compose and identify schedule of donor thank you letters for cash gifts and gift-in-kind donations, write memorial letters for memorial donations, write proposals for program and scholarship funding from businesses, corporations and foundations;
- Maintain frequent contact with donors through letters, cards, and calls; promote new donor contacts through key administrator/Trustee receptions, community civic presentations and scholarship distribution receptions;
- Work cooperatively with publications director and members of the Administrative Team, Trustees and Directors to identify and develop key relationships to benefit the mission and work of La Salle Catholic College Preparatory;
- Maintain and build the data base of contributions to La Salle's Foundation, Campus Development and Scholarship programs;
Lead the development and influence of the Foundation Board of Directors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum five years work experience in fundraising, public relations, sales, or a related field with demonstrated program success
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
- Strong communication skills: written, oral and listening;
- Strong planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
- Willingness to travel in the fulfillment of duties;
- Knowledge of personal computer based software (i.e., word processing and spreadsheet applications).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Seven or more years direct experience in fundraising, advancement, sales or public relations
- Familiarity with Lasallian Educational mission;
- Familiarity and basic proficiency in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge donor management software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to attend sometimes frequent weekend and evening activities;
- Ability to travel and visit prospects and donors in their offices.
