Janet Ruggiero has been appointed to succeed Robert Jordan as the De La Salle Institute’s Director of Governance Support when he departs for his new position as President of Justin-Siena High School in Napa on July 1. In this role, Janet will provide training, support, and consultation to the Boards of Trustees and presidents of the secondary schools of the District.

Janet, a native Californian, is no stranger to board governance or Lasallian education. Her two brothers are graduates (1961 and 1962) of Bishop Armstrong High School, which changed its name to Christian Brothers High School in 1969, and two sons graduated in 2000 and 2002 respectively.

Janet has extensive experience as a trustee. Not only did she serve on the Board of St. Francis High School in Sacramento for five years, but she also officiated as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Christian Brothers High School during three years of her six-year term there. During that time, Janet regularly attended the Association of Board Chairs of Lasallian Schools, the Lasallian Chief Administrators Conference, and also was a participant of the District Assembly on Mission in 2006. Her various roles in the public sector have given her an appreciation for the principles of policy governance.

Janet’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences from Santa Clara University and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from San Jose State University. Among her professional assignments, she served for many years as an urban planner and community development director in the cities of Woodland Hills and Citrus Heights and is a Fellow in the American Institute of Certified Planners.
