PRAYING
EACH DAY: Praying Each
Day is a Web site based
in Lancashire, England;
it is an excellent “prayer
and education site
of the De La Salle
Brothers in Great Britain” that
offers a wealth of
resources, such as
Lasallian prayers for
every day of the year,
links to other Christian
Brothers sites, links
to scripture and other
prayers, links to art
and icon sites, and
much besides. In the
six years that the
site has been running,
says its creator, Brother
Nicholas Hutchinson,
FSC, there have been
over 2.5 million visits.
Here are some excerpts
from the entry for
May 15, which is Founder’s
Day:
“John Baptist
de La Salle was declared
the Patron Saint of
teachers on this day
in 1950. Three hundred
years ago, John Baptist
de La Salle encouraged
teachers to look upon
their students as individuals
rather than as a group.
He talked of people
needing to touch hearts.
Touching hearts is
about acknowledging
and relating with people
as individuals – helping
each person feel … significant
and special. A personal
approach or reaction
can make all the difference
to an individual, showing
that someone is ‘bothered
enough’ to care.
Someone today can be
made to feel worthwhile
if I call them by their
name. I can show human
warmth and concern
today if I acknowledge
individuals with eye-contact,
a nod, a smile, or
a word. I can ‘touch
someone’s heart’ if
I set out to remember
what the person says
or does….”
Loving
Lord, inspire me
to
bring out the
best in others
and touch
hearts
by being welcoming and generous
and always positive in attitude,
showing individuals that they matter and are important.
May
those who are part of my life this day
treat
me in the same
way as I treat
them. Amen.

REVIEW
FOR RELIGIOUS: In the important quarterly

for Religious,” Brother
Brendan Kneale, FSC,
has an article examining

is one’s “identity” as
a consecrated member

Is there an “identity
crisis” for vowed
religious, and if so
how can it be resolved?
This article is a shorter
version of a piece
that Brother Brendan
published in E-HORIZONS
in the Spring-Summer
2006 issue. To read
