On
July 16, 1868, a small band of Brothers set sail from New York Harbor,
arriving in San Francisco Bay on August 10, 1868. Here they would
establish the new District of San Francisco and take over management
of Saint Mary's College, established in 1863 by Archbishop Joseph
Sadoc Alemany. Follow the journey of the first Brothers and our Lasallian
schools on the West Coast in the pages below. Their stories - and
their faith - continue to inspire the District today.
