PREPARATORY COMMITTEE WORK CONTINUES

The Assembly Preparatory Committee will meet again in early June to continue with preparations for the summer gathering at Saint Mary's College. The ten-member committee, assisted by support staff at De La Salle Institute, are managing the various elements of the assembly including: assembly committee formation, assembly officers and procedures, communications, audio-visual and computer needs, registration, materials, housing, meals, liturgies, transportation, displays, and hospitality.

                      PRAYERS FOR THE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

As various gatherings take place around the District in preparation for the assembly, special prayers are being offered for the work that participants will undertake. Excerpts from prayers offered at the April and May 2002 regional meetings of assembly delegates and at meetings of the Preparatory Committee follow-

"Pour out your Spirit upon our Lasallian family as we gather here to prepare for the Assembly. Inspire us with your presence among us; keep us true to your will, so that all we say and do may be directed to the greater good of those entrusted to our care."

"Our ministry is collaborative and sustained by commitment. We gather with Brothers and Partners past and present in a tradition of faith and service identified by Saint La Salle and the first community of Brothers. Lord, enrich our call, our vocation, to be of service in education together and by association."

"We pray for the upcoming Assembly, that discussions and decisions in committees and in the general assembly will indeed chart a wise and effective course for the educational mission in the District for the coming years."

ASSEMBLY COMMITTEES FORMING

The 140 delegates to the District Assembly on Mission will serve on various committees and present propositions or reports/recommendations to the general assembly. Propositions accepted by the general assembly will be forwarded to the Brothers' 11th District Chapter that will convene at Mont La Salle in Napa in late October 2002. Each delegate will serve on one of the ten committees named below. Committee membership is expected to be finalized early in June.
