Four
of the 124 De La Salle Christian Brothers in the District of San Francisco
celebrated 50-year jubilees at Mont La Salle in Napa on January 27.

Brother Gus Rossi attended Saint Elizabeth
High School in Oakland, and has taught at Sacred Heart High School
in San Francisco, Christian Brothers and Bishop Armstrong High in
Sacramento, Saint Mary's High, Berkeley, De La Salle High School,
Concord, Justin-Siena High in Napa, and Saint Mary's College in Moraga.
Brother John transferred from the Brothers' Midwest District in 1976,
and directed the Brothers' St. Helena Retreat House, prior to assignments
including Saint Mary's High, La Salle High in Milwaukie, Oregon, De
La Salle, Concord, and San Luis Obispo, Saint Mary's College, and
East Africa. Brother John is currently undertaking establishment of
a new ministry in the Russian River area of California.
A native of Fresno and graduate of the Brothers' San Joaquin Memorial
High School there, Brother Nicholas is currently on the faculty at
Justin-Siena High School, Napa. His assignments have included Brothers'
schools in Berkeley, Sacramento, San Francisco, Fresno, Concord, and
Oregon.
Brother Fidele entered the Brothers in Viet Nam in 1951, and studied
and taught in Viet Nam and in France before coming to the United States
in 1990. Brother Fidele has taught at Saint Mary's High in Berkeley
and De La Salle High in Concord, and has served as the Director of
Religious Education for Vietnamese Communities in the Oakland Diocese.
25-year
jubilarians not pictured are Brother Charles Hilken, FSC, who attended
Saint Joseph's High School in Alameda, has taught in Fresno, Concord,
and Berkeley, and is currently a professor at Saint Mary's College
in Moraga, Brother Daniel Morgan, principal at three-year-old La Salle
High School in Yakima, Washington, an Oregon native whose teaching
career includes Brothers' schools in Sacramento, Berkeley, Concord,
and Fresno, and Brother Michael Murphy, alumnus of Justin-Siena High
School in Napa and former teacher in Sacramento, Tijuana, and Moraga,
currently pursuing advanced studies in Illinois.
