People Serving People

At the heart of the spirit of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, Founder of the Christian Brothers, is the belief that in serving people, we become closer to God. Saint La Salle wrote in his Meditations for the Time of Retreat of the special work that an educator undertakes. "Since you are ambassadors and ministers of Jesus Christ in the work that you do, you must act as representing Jesus Christ Himself. Your students must be convinced that the truth of Jesus Christ comes from your mouth, that it is only in His name that you teach." Enter to Learn and Leave to Serve has become a familiar motto for Lasallian educational ministries around the world.

If you feel somehow called to respond to the educational needs of youth, locally or overseas, there is much work to be done and many ways to do it. Brothers are vowed Religious who live in community to meet these needs. Many selfless Lasallian Partners lay women and men, religious Sisters, Brothers from other Orders, and priests - support the Brothers in their vital ministry in the Catholic Church. Others contribute to the Lasallian mission through volunteering as tutors and prefects, and through financial donations.
