Brother Paul Grass, the US/Toronto Region's executive director of Lasallian
Publications, whose office is at Saint Mary's Press in Winona, Minnesota, has prepared a style sheet to assist in editing articles dealing with De La
Salle or the Brothers.
Entries from Brother Paul's style sheet that might be frequently used in general publications appear below. (Style Sheet, December 1999, Lasallian Exchange, District of New York)
Note regarding Brothers' names: it has been the custom of the De La Salle Christian Brothers to use their first name with the title "Brother". In an initial reference and in formal use, a Brother's entire name would be used, such as "Brother Thomas Smith". Subsequent references, or informal or conversational references would use "Brother Thomas". The Christian Brothers use their baptismal or religious name, not their surname in general use, e.g. "Brother Smith" would not be used.
