San Miguel Catholic High School, Tucson, Starts
Its Second Year in a Brand-New Facility

Under the blue Arizona sky the new campus and buildings of San Miguel Catholic High School head toward completion in time for the opening of classes this fall in late August 2005. The newest high school sponsored by the Christian Brothers District of San Francisco, San Miguel High first opened its doors in temporary facilities in 2004 to welcome its inaugural class of ninth-graders .In the 2005-2006 academic year, it will have 55 sophomores and about 55 freshmen.

San Miguel is the second of two new high schools based on the corporate internship model and sponsored by the Christian Brothers District of San Francisco. A coeducational, college preparatory secondary school, it has been established for students from economically disadvantaged families of Southern Tucson. San Miguel strives to advance each student's human and religious education while generating a respect and appreciation of the student's Hispanic and Native American heritages. Through the school's academic curriculum and unique Corporate Internship/Work Study Program, San Miguel maximizes the potential of its graduates to take their place as contributing members and leaders in the civic, religious, business and cultural life of our community and nation. San Miguel High is a member of the growing national network of corporate internship schools on the model pioneered by Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago.
