Focus Area 2. GUARANTEE THE LASALLIAN CHARISM IN ALL DISTRICT SCHOOLS
C. Goal: Focused attention and special efforts are made to enhance efforts for “service of the poor,” as directed by District Chapter Act #180.
Focus Area 3. FOSTER AND SUPPORT THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF INSTITUTIONS, THEIR GOVERNANCE AND LEADERSHIP, AND OTHER DISTRICT APOSTOLIC PROGRAMS.
B. Goal: The plan called for in The Rule Article 40a, “to make the direct service of the poor more and more [the District’s] effective priority,” is established. (See also District Chapter Act #180.)
Focus Area 4. COOPERATE FULLY WITH INTERNATIONAL AND REGIONAL INITIATIVES.
A. Goal: The District continues its cooperative relationships with the U.S./Toronto Region, the Pacific Asia Region, and Institute initiatives as requested or required.
B. Goal: The District increases personnel and financial assistance to overseas apostolates as requested by the international Institute.
Focus Area 5. ACT AS RESPONSIBLE STEWARDS OF RESOURCES.
E. Goal: The Board of Trustees of the San Francisco Christian Brothers Charitable Trust and Controller provider for the retirement and health care needs of the Brothers, in accordance with the Extraordinary District Chapter Act #168 (Establishing of the Trust), 1993.
I. Goal: De La Salle Institute provides construction management oversight for projects at Christian Brothers High School, Sacramento; La Salle High School, Pasadena; and Saint Mary’s College High School, Berkeley; and at other institutions requesting and receiving approve for such professional management services.
J. Goal: De La Salle Institute conducts major maintenance surveys and preventative maintenance programs at DLSI properties and other institutions requesting such professional management services, i.e., schools governed by boards of limited jurisdiction.

That the District Administration strive to increase the annual commitment of the Service to the Poor funding with the goal of achieving a 25% direct allocation of the annual budget by fiscal year 1994-95 (Eighth District Chapter, 1991).

That in order to provide adequate funds for the establishment of a Christian Brother irrevocable charitable trust, the Extraordinary District Chapter directs the Board of Directors of De La Salle Institute to approve the amended bylaws of De La Salle Institute as presented to this Chapter, to be effective July 1, 1993. Principle of Perpetuity.
That the District continue to have as a prime objective in the management of its assets the preservation of the purchasing power of those assets, taking into consideration inflation and/or other economic factors. (Ninth District Chapter, 1995.)

District Plan for Article 40a of The Rule.
That the District Administration and District Council establish the plan called for in article 40a of The Rule by June 1997; and that the plan contain ways for the development of our existing works to make them more accessible to the poor and to make them places where programs to serve the poor are promoted, and that the plan contains ways to orient each Brother, Colleague, and those groups who wish to share our mission to be more attentive to the call to create new ways to respond to the education needs of the poor in our rapidly changing world.
